The Type 14 pistol shown here was produced in March of 1944 by the Nagoya Army Arsenal at the Toriimatsu Factory. The Toriimatsu Factory produced around 126,000 of these arms between 1941 and 1945. Higher production numbers than the other manufacturers make Toriimatsu built pistols fairly common, as they also saw fewer years of war service. Even so, this is a prime example of a second series, large trigger guard variation in very good condition with both matching serial numbers and magazine.

Type 14 pistol markings: “A” position: Period correct, second variation SHO kanji character preceding date of manufacture, followed by period correct inspection marking. On frame above frame position “A”: Nagoya Arsenal symbol and the Toriimatsu Factory second series ‘ro’ symbol followed by the SN. “B” position: no markings. On frame above position “B”: Kanji Type (model) designation. Frame left, front: Safety markings with double arrow. Serial numbers and partial numbers match on frame, grips, locking block, trigger guard, trigger, cocking knob, magazine latch, bolt, barrel/barrel extension, and magazine. The magazine safety is not marked. Small parts inspection marked as seen in photos.

The 65mm long striker is both blued and marked on the tail with the last three SN digits. The flat-sided striker guide is 54mm in length, also blued, is stamp lengthwise with the last three SN digits. Both the striker and striker guide are correct for the second series Toriimatsu Type 14 pistol production. The matching Type VIII, blued magazine with alloy base and cutout for the latch spring is the original with matching SN struck on the bottom rear strap with correct inspection stamp below.

Rough machine marks are visible on the frame and grips straps, which is typical for a later war Type 14 pistol. Some light service wear exists on the metal parts and grips. Bore is bright, clean, and has well-defined rifling. Action is strong and smooth. This is a fantastic representative arm of the second series Toriimatsu Factory produced late war Type 14 pistol. See pictures for overall condition. FFL or C&R required for purchase.
