Ruger New Model Super Blackhawk “Liberty Model” single-action revolver chambered in .44 Magnum. Ruger roll marked their firearms manufactured in 1976 with “MADE IN THE 200TH YEAR OF AMERICAN LIBERTY” on the barrel. Aside from the scroll mark, features and options are the same as the other years of model production. This New Model Super Blackhawk includes a 6-shot cylinder, adjustable rear sight, ramp-style front blade sight, transfer bar safety, wood grips, hammer finished in the white, 7 ½ inch barrel, and blue finish.
Markings include ‘RUGER .44 MAGNUM CAL./NEW MODEL SUPER BLACKHAWK’ on the left side of the frame with the serial number on the right side. The left side of the barrel is marked ‘STURM, RUGER & CO. INC./SOUTHPORT, CONN. U.S.A.’ forward of the Ruger Phoenix logo. The grip frame is unmarked as are the grips. The rear face of the cylinder is marked ‘S’ while the front face is electro-penciled with ‘7’, ‘3’, ‘8’, and ‘1’ SN digits.
Very good overall condition with some slight, spotty surface oxidation on the hammer, and very faint drag lines on the cylinder. On the right side of the frame is a patch of pitting and finish wear. The bore is clean and bright with sharp rifling. The action is crisp and functions flawlessly.
The Ruger New Model Super Blackhawk “Liberty Model” is not considered a special collectible by every Ruger aficionado, however they do represent Ruger’s celebration of the nation’s Bicentennial. This is an excellent example that can fill a spot in a Ruger collection and be used on the range without concern for loosing “never shot” value.
See pictures for overall condition. FFL required for purchase.
