Winchester Model 70 carbine, also known as the Model 70 lightweight carbine, was manufactured from 1984 until 1987 in both medium and short action. The short action carbine seen here is first year, 1984, production and chambered in .223 REM. Features include a bejeweled bolt, 6-round capacity magazine, 20-inch barrel with no sights, and a checkered walnut stock. A Burris 12X scope is mounted on the carbine.

The receiver is marked ‘WINCHESTER’ on the left side, and the serial number is stamped on the right side above the chamber. The left side of the barrel is marked ‘WINCHESTER MODEL 70 CARBINE SHORT ACTION .223 REM/MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL’. ‘BURRIS 12X’ is marked on the left side of the scope and the front scope mount is stamped ‘BURRIS’ on the right-side base. The red rubber butt pad is marked ‘WINCHESTER’ within a circle.

Very lightly used, the condition of this Winchester Model 70 carbine is excellent. The finish remains perfect and only a few, very small handling marks are seen in the wood. A very attractive grain pattern is visible in the wood, and the checkering is sharp and undamaged. No cracks are present in the butt pad, which is still pliable. The bore is excellent and bright with well-defined rifling. The scope has a clear view.

A great candidate for the field or collection, this Winchester carbine, short action will not disappoint. Includes original hangtag and paperwork shown.
