Winchester Model 12 shotguns, produced from 1912 through 1964, were extremely popular due to the quality of design and construction and set the benchmark for shotguns of the period. Offered in a wide variation of configurations, these shotguns fit numerous needs on the range and in the field with wide ranging features and a variety of gauges.
Manufactured in 1955, the Winchester Model 12 for sale here features a walnut forearm and buttstock with pistol grip, 12 gauge 30-inch plain barrel with full choke, 2 ¾ chamber, 6-round tubular magazine, and blue finish. ‘WINCHESTER/TRADE MARK/MADE IN U.S.A.’ is stamped on the barrel, in front of ‘-MODEL-12-12 GA.-2 ¾ CHAM.-/-WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL-/FULL’. On the bottom of the receiver and magazine tube is the serial number. Just behind the forearm, on the magazine tube and on the receiver are two opposing arrows. Behind the trigger guard are the inspector’s initials ‘GN’, although the N is lightly struck and looks like an inverted V. The ‘P/W’ within an oval proof mark is located on top on the receiver and barrel. The replacement butt pad reads ‘TRADE WHITE LINE MARK’ over ‘PACHMAYR’ ‘R’ within a circle ‘GUN WORKS’ over ‘LOS ANGELES 15 CALIFONIA U.S.A.’.
The blue finish is in excellent condition with some wear along the slide and left leading edge of the receiver. All amrkings are sharp. Both the wood forearm and buttstock carry handling dings and dents and there is some high point wear along the bottom of the pistol grip. A small chip in the wood exists at the rear of the trigger guard. Both wood components have no cracks. The action functions as intended. The bore is clean, bright, and smooth with no pitting or oxidation.
This is a great looking Winchester Model 12 that is perfect for the range or field.
