Ruger Mark I Target pistol in .22 L.R., semi-auto, manufactured in 1965. These pistols followed Ruger’s original .22 caliber pistol, the Standard Model, and were designed for the competitive shooting market. The Mark I, first introduced in 1950, differed from the Standard in featuring adjustable rear sights, an undercut front sight to reduce glare, and a longer barrel. A short, barreled version was available for a limited period (1952-57) and a 5-½ inch bull barreled version became available in 1963. The accuracy, reliability, and economical price quickly made the Mark I line a popular pistol in the market.

The Ruger Mark I Target pistol seen here features the standard cylindrical bolt, target sights, serrated chrome trigger, 5 ½ -inch heavy bull barrel, blue finish, 9-round magazine with chrome baseplate, and bottom magazine release. The grips are walnut with a round medallion on the left grip which features a black Phoenix on a silver backrgound.  ‘RUGER’ in front of ’22 CAL. LONG RIFLE/AUTOMATIC PISTOL’ followed by ‘MARK I’ adorns the left side of the frame, while the right side carries the serial number in front of the ejection port and ‘STURM, RUGER & CO., INC./SOUTHPORT, CONN. U.S.A.’ to the rear of the port.

This Ruger Mark I Target pistol retains an excellent condition blued finish. The grips are in superb condition with no cracks or chips. The bolt slides freely with strong springs bringing it back into battery. The muzzle has a couple of handling marks while the bore is clean and bright with very good with rifling. The magazine is blued with a chromed baseplate and shows minor handling wear. Comes with the original box, two extra magazines, and an aluminum speed loader.  The box has the pistol SN marked in pencil, is in good structural condition with some wear and dirt from storage.  The extra magazines are in similar condition to the one in the pistol.
