The Luger P.08 pistol was a mainstay of the German military for decades and was a popular souvenir item for Allied soldiers in WWII. The P.08 offered here was manufactured in 1942 by Mauser-Werke (war code byf at the time of production). All serial numbers match on the receiver, barrel, and frame while the small parts two numeral stamps (including firing pin) match the last two letters of the SN. The magazine is the correct Type 4 Army with an unmarked plastic base and marked with ‘P.08’ and ‘fxo/SE/37’ on the bottom, left side.

Markings include Frame: front (below barrel) SN ‘678’ over script ‘e’ and “GESICHERT’ behind safety. Receiver: left side ‘678’, top side ‘42’, right side ‘SE/135 SE/135’ followed by the late version of the army test proof mark, bottom side (below index mark) lower case ‘p’ and possible ‘WV’. Barrel: bottom ‘678’, right side has the late test proof mark. Extractor: ‘GELADEN’. Front Toggle Link top side ‘byf” and last two SN digits, bottom has the number ‘6’ and factory proof stamp. Rear Toggle Link top side has last two SN digits, and the bottom side marked ‘5’ with factory proof stamp.

The bore on this Luger P.08 pistol is clean, bright, and very nice rifling. Checkered walnut grips in good condition; the left grip is marked with a ‘V’ and ‘SE/135 inside while the right grip has only the ‘SE/135’ stamp on the inside. Fully functional with hold open. The metal finish is very worn with remnant bluing and small patches of pitting are present here and there. Overall, this is a nice, all correct, all matching Luger P.08 pistol that has a solid history of active duty and carries a condition as one might expect for a wartime service arm that did not sit in a desk drawer during the war.

See pictures for overall condition. FFL or C&R required for purchase.
