For Sale: FN “Baby” Model Pistol, .25 ACP

The FN “Baby” Model pistol, chambered in .25 ACP follows the 1905 and 1906 Vest pocket model pistols manufactured by Fabrique Nationale (FN) beginning in 1905. The “Baby” Browning is smaller and lighter than its predecessors and were imported by Browning Arms Company from 1954 until its discontinuation in 1968. Features of the Baby model include an improved safety lever design, cocking indicator, magazine safety, 2-inch barrel, blued finish, bottom magazine release, and 6-round magazine.

Manufactured in in Belgium in 1966, the markings on this FN “Baby” Model pistol include ‘BROWNING ARMS COOMPANY/MADE IN BELGIUM’ on the left side of the slide. Below this stamp, on the frame, is the ‘S’ safe mark below the serial number. The front upper corner of the trigger guard is stamped with the letter ‘F’. As viewed through the ejection port, proof and controller proof marks are stamped on the barrel. These marks can also be found stamped on the top front corner of the trigger guard, right side, and on the slide under the barrel muzzle. Under the barrel markings ‘CAL. 6M/M 35’ is stamped. The grips bear ‘BROWNING’ within an oval. On the magazine, ‘FN’ is stamped within an oval on the right side and on the back is the number ‘l2l’ near the top. Each side has five witness holes.

Overall, the blue finish on this FN “Baby” Model pistol is nearly perfect with no high point wear and few handling marks, including the grips straps. The magazine finish is also in superb condition. The grips are unworn and not cracked. The action is strong and functions as intended. Bore condition is perfect, clean and bright with excellent rifling.

This FN “Baby” Model pistol comes with an original Browning Arms zipper pouch that is good condition. The gold-colored Browning shows some wear, and the red cloth interior bears some dirt. The zipper works well and does not bind along its travel length. This is a really fine example of the “Baby” pistol and would be an excellent addition for the collector.
