For Sale: Colt Woodsman Target Pistol, 1st Series

Colt Woodsman Target pistol, first series, in .22 L.R. Manufactured in 1938 with blued finish, checkered walnut grips, 6 5/8-inch barrel, serrated trigger, 10-round magazine, bottom magazine release, and adjustable sights.

The top of the barrel is marked ‘COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A./ PAT’D. DEC. 22, 1903. AUG 27, 1918, SEPT. 3, 1918.’ On the slide, left side, is stamped ‘COLT’ forward of ‘AUTOMATIC/CAL. .22 LONG RIFLE’ forward of the rampant colt logo. ‘THE WOODSMAN’ is stamped on the right side of the frame. The serial number is marked vertically on the front gripstrap. The left upper corner of the trigger guard is marked with ‘VP’ within a triangle below a capital ‘T’, and the number ‘30’ is stamped on the opposite, right side, corner. ‘COLT WOODSMAN/CAL. 22 L.R.’ is stamped on the magazine base.

This Colt Woodsman Target pistol is in excellent overall condition. The finish is near perfect with only a few minor handling marks, the most notable of which are a ding on top of the slide just above the rampant colt logo, a rub mark on the right side of the frame, just behind the barrel, and light scratches on the rear of the frame and slide. The bore is clean and bright with excellent rifling. The grips show no wear on the checkering. This is a beautiful Woodsman for any .22 or Colt collection.
