The Colt Police Positive 32 revolver was introduced in 1907 and produced until 1947. The double-action, six-shot revolver proved a popular arm for law enforcement. The Police Positive offered here was manufactured in 1919 and part of the first issue group (1907-1927) with the last patent date of 1905 on top of the barrel. The revolver features a blued finish, smooth topstrap, four-inch barrel, half-moon blade front sight and notched topstrap rear sight, fleur-de-lis, checkered hard rubber grips with ‘COLT’ in an oval at the top, and is chambered in .32 New Police.
Markings on this Colt Police Positive 32 revolver include ‘COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A./PAT’D AUG 5, 1884 JUNE 5, 1900 JULY 4, 1905’ on top of the barrel and ‘POLICE-/POSITIVE’ in front of ’32 POLICE CTG’ on the left side of the barrel. The left side of the frame is marked with the rampant colt logo and under the crane, on the frame, is the serial number above the letter ‘T’. The SN is stamped on the crane as well. The Verified Proof (VP within a triangle) mark is found on the left side of the frame just above the front trigger guard and the top of the number ‘3’ (an angled stamp strike that left off the bottom portion of the 3) is found on the same side, just above the rear of the trigger guard. A number ‘1’ is stamped under the barrel, in front of the frame. The front face of the cylinder is marked with ‘8’ and ‘9’ in between chambers, near the ejector rod.
This Colt Police Positive 32 revolver is in excellent condition with only minor finish wear near the muzzle on the left side. The cylinder has no drag line and a couple of very tiny specks of highpoint wear on two flutes. All markings are sharp and defined. The action is tight and crisp, and the bore clean and bright with excellent rifling. The grips are unworn and not cracked. There are no finish scratches or damage to metal surfaces and the blue is vibrant.
The original box is in good structural condition with the exception of the top, with is is broken at the front lip (the lip is included with the box). Storage and handling wear exists along the edges and corners. The SN, matching the revolver, is marked in pencil on the bottom of the box. Colt’s trademark information is marked inside the box top and bottom, while the end bears a sticker on the outside with the revolver information ‘4’ ‘COLT’S POLICE-/POSITIVE REVOLVER’ .32’ over ‘Reg. U.S. Pat. Off.’ over ‘Rubber Blue. Police Cartridge.’. Original “Colt’s Revolvers” paperwork and hang tag included.
A well-cared for Colt Police Positive 32 revolver perfect for any colt collector. Comes with original Colt box and papers.
