For Sale: Beretta M9-92FS 20th Anniversary Edition, 9mm

The Beretta M9-92FS 20th Anniversary Edition pistol commemorated the 1985 adoption of the M9 as the standard sidearm of the U.S. military. Also labeled the Beretta M9-92FS America’s Defender, the estimated production for this special edition pistol, which ran ca. 2005, is approximately 2000 pistols. Chambered in 9mm Parabellum, these pistols featured military style markings, post and dot sights, M9 serial number prefix, Bruniton black finish, wood grips with Beretta medallions, gold inlayed slide markings, 4.9-inch barrel, and 15-round standard magazine. Each pistol shipped with a wooden display case that featured an engraved brass plaque, M9 coin, five smaller coins each bearing the seal for the five military branches, owner’s manual, and a certificate of authenticity.

The Beretta M9-92FS 20th Anniversary Edition pistol offered here was manufactured in July of 2005. Markings include the Beretta arrow logo on the grip medallions, serial number on the left side of the frame, and the ‘WARNING: READ MANUAL BEFORE USE. RETRACT/SLIDE TO SEE IF LOADED. FIRES WITHOUT MAGAZINE’ Beretta safety warning on the frame, right side. The slide is marked ‘THE SECOND DECADE 1985-2005/BERETTA U.S.A. CORP.-ACCOKEEK, MD’ on the left side and on the right side with ‘AMERICA’S DEFENDER/BERETTA M9-92FS CAL. 9MM PARABELLUM’; both are in gold lettering. The magazine is marked ‘PB’ on the base, ‘PB CAL. 9 PARA MADE IN ITALY’ along the left rear edge, and the three witness holes on the back are marked top to bottom ‘5, 10, 15’.

Overall, the condition of this Beretta M9-92FS America’s Defender pistol is like new, never fired. The wood grips show excellent grain pattern and have no pressure dents or scratches. The black metal finish is likewise without handling marks, and the bore is like new. Minor highpoint wear from removal exists on the magazine and the engraved brass plaque in the display case bears spots of oxidation. The wooden display case is in very good shape with a minor dent to the left of the M9 medallion slot. The included hang tag, manual, and certificate of authenticity are in excellent condition. This is a fine example of the Beretta M9-92FS 20th Anniversary Edition line and worthy of a Beretta collection.
