Colt 1851 Navy 2nd Generation percussion revolver with original carboard box, wooden box, accessories, and paperwork. Colt’s Manufacturing Company, Inc began introducing select models of Colt’s’ 1800s black powder revolvers in the 1970s, a group known as 2nd Generation revolvers. Production started with the 1851 Navy in 1971 and added the 3rd Model Dragoon in 1974, both part of Series “C” and ran until 1976. Additional models, such as the Walker and 1860 Army, were added when Series “F” debuted in 1978. Throughout the production of the 2nd Generation line (which ended in 1982), parts were obtained from Italy before the final finishing and assembly of complete revolvers took place at Colt’s’ facility in Hartford, CT.

The Colt 1851 Navy, 2nd Generation revolver in .36 caliber seen here was produced in 1972 as part of the initial reintroduction line. Features include 7 ½-inch barrel, square back trigger guard, walnut grips, and Royal Blue finish on the barrel and cylinder. The frame, loading lever, plunger, and hammer are all beautifully color case hardened while the gripstraps and trigger guard are silver plated. Markings include ‘ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY‘ on top of the barrel; matching serial numbers on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, loading lever, cylinder, and gripstrap; beautiful naval engagement cylinder scene; “Colt’s Patent’ on the left side of the frame; and ‘Engraved by W.L. Ormsby New York’ on cylinder.

In like new, never fired condition, this 2nd Generation 1851 Navy is a beautiful revolver. The bore is clean and bright with strong rifling. The matching original cardboard box and wooden display box are included and each shows some handling wear. Accessories, flask (slight dent), mold, nipple wrench, cap tin, and paperwork included as shown.
